The name of the village is attributed to the Ghassanids, and it was said that it has a monastery in the name of Deir al-Ghassaneh, or that they inhabited the place, so it was named after them. In a fresh water spring called Ain Al-Zarqa, the seasonal valley that separates the mountains from the middle is the focus of some types of migratory birds during the period of the migration of birds through Palestine, including many species, especially wild ducks, and it is a fertile environment for some animals such as wild boars, foxes Hamra, and others. Partridges abound in its forests during the route, and it is characterized by a beautiful geographical nature formed by oak forests, and the springs of water extend side by side from the heart of the village to its eastern outskirts, like Ain al-Baniyat. But Deir Ghassaneh in particular is characterized by the presence of more than ten shrines scattered throughout the village, such as the beautiful shrine of al-Khawas.
